Anthropic launched Claude 2.0 as a completely restructured desktop app that moves away from traditional sequential chat feeds and transitions into a comprehensive AI workspace, unifying local computing and multi-agent coordination (including Sonnet 5.5, Haiku, and Opus).
• Chat & Code Interface: The app is split into two primary pillars: Chat (for standard interactions, writing, and document creation) and Code (a specialized local terminal-style environment).
• The Session Rail & Cards: A permanent right-hand layout rail tracks the environment state. It features Environment Cards showing active local folders, Connectors & Outputs Cards mapping used files, and Context Cards that allow users to dynamically compact full chat threads into summarized tokens to free up memory.
• Integrated Apps & Artifacts: Built-in workspace utilities called Slides, Docs, and Motion Studio act like an internal Google Workspace. Users
can view, edit, and collaborate on interactive dashboards, Google Sheets, or documents natively inside the app window.
• Custom Sections: Users can organize chaos by creating custom folders in the sidebar, dragging and dropping individual chat threads into neatly categorized sections.
